Terrorist's plea for mercy: 'I am not a lunatic'

Although he was a helper and not a mastermind, Mr. Khalid's statement addresses questions that have lingered since his arrest: How real was the bomb plot? And what did the alleged conspirators - raised in Canada - hope to accomplish? ...

What the Globe and Mail fails to mention is that the "mastermind" was an RCMP-controlled provocateur who was paid several hundred thousand dollars -- with approval undoubtedly of Stockwell Day the Minster then responsible for the RCMP -- for inciting a group of naive youths to participate in a criminal enterprise.

Even the explosives that Mr. Khalid helped unload from a truck -- which were in fact not explosives at all -- were supplied by an agent of the RCMP -- another fact the Globe and Mail fails to mention.

Saad Khalid, enraged by Canada's participation in America's war of aggression against Afghanistan, acted in a way that was both foolish and criminal. It is the case, however, that but for the intervention of Cabinet-authorized provocateurs and the RCMP, this young man would almost certainly not have ruined his career by engaging in any criminal act whatsoever.

Thus, although the Globe and Mail report is correct so far as it goes, it tells less than half the story and leaves one with a completely false picture of what occurred. And that is precisely the false picture that the Harper government wished to create; namely, that Canada faced an Islamic terrorist threat which justified Canada's participation in George Bush's fraudulent "war on terror."

But their collective willingness to extend an olive branch to the dictator dissipated after Abdel Baset al-Megrahi, the man convicted of the 1988 bombing of Pan American Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland, was freed from a life sentence last week on humanitarian grounds and returned to Libya. ...

What the Globe and Mail fails to mention is that many journalists, lawyers and politicians familiar with the case are extremely doubtful of Megrahi's responsibility for the Lockerbie bombing.

For example, Robert Black QC, an Edinburgh University professor emeritus of Scottish law has stated that "No reasonable tribunal, on the evidence heard at the original trial, should or could have convicted him and it is an absolute disgrace and outrage what the Scottish court did."

Former Labour MP Tam Dalyell and Professor Robert Black have urged the Scottish and UK governments to answer reports that Abu Nidal was a US agent and that he was responsible for co-ordinating the bomb that blew up Pan Am flight 103 over Lockerbie on 21 December, 1988 with the loss of 270 lives.

Prof. Ludwig De Braeckeleer, a physicist who has worked for the U.S. Department of Energy, taught at Duke University and Washington University in Seattle and currently teaches in Bogota, Colombia has pointed out that evidence critical in convicting al-Megrahi was perjured. Moreover, according to a statement in the British Parliament by Tam Dalyell, that perjured evidence was planted by the CIA.

Renowned middle-east correspondent Robert Fisk (who also claims Abu Nidal to have been a U.S. agent) asserts that the truth of the Lockerbie bombing is unrelated to Moammar Gadhafi but is to be found in Tehran and Damascus.

Presenting the full story, however, is evidently more than the Globe and Mail, Canada's self-proclaimed "national newspaper" is prepared to do. They give a totally one-sided account, so ensuring that what readers think they know is essentially false.

As for the pain of a higher dollar, suuuuure. Don't you just hate it when the cost of every imported manufuctured good, service or commodity that you buy goes down as the Loonie goes up?

THE UNITED STATES, A PITIFUL HELPLESS GIANT

Obama on brink of deal for Middle East peace talks

When it comes to Israel, the United States, the World's sole super power, has to negiotiate a deal merely to talk.

Ha ha.

The deal requires the United States -- at the demand of a very small country of six million mostly racist fanatics (and here) -- to "take a much tougher line with Iran over its alleged nuclear weapons programme" (i.e., the program which according to America's own intelligence agencies Iran abandoned years ago), avoiding any reference to Israel's massive nuclear arsenal.

Moreover, the United States is to understand that any halt to the theft of Palestinian land will be merely partial, i.e., imperceptible.

The U.S. has thus conceded to Israel everything it wants, even before the talks begin: it will shut up about the settlements, and it will deliver an ultimatum to Iran that Iran cannot accept without abandoning its sovereignty.

The meeting that Obama has so brilliantly negotiated will, presumably, serve to coordinate the bombardment of Iran.

If Obama is not an Israeli agent, he is an Israeli doormat, a pathetic pushover, a wimp. Under Obama, America is nothing but a pitiful helpless giant dancing to the tune of interests that own the White House.

Q1. How much vaccine is the government ordering?

The government intends to purchase 50.4 million doses of H1N1 vaccine on behalf of the provinces, territories and federal populations.

Which, as they point out, is "50 per cent more than ... sufficient to meet the needs of every Canadian likely to need and want protection" [i.e., all 33 million Canadians].

But they say "we know that even in provinces with free universal access vaccination programs, usually less than 50 per cent of the population will choose to be immunized," so 50 million doses seems to be three times as much as required.

Weirdly, they go on to say "Through our contract with GSK we have the opportunity to place further orders at a later date if we feel that there is a requirement for more vaccine to meet the needs of the Canadian people."

Very generous of GSK to be willing to consider another order on top of the half-billion-dollar order they've already received from the Feds. But why would we need more if we have already ordered 50% more than we could possibly use and three times as much as we are likely to use?

Is someone getting a kickback on vaccine purchases, angling for a post-elected-office place on the Board of GSK, or what?

We seem to be faced here with a case of monstrous bureaucratic incompetence, grotesque corruption, or a Web page written by a person who is entirely innumerate. Which is it?

"Democracy" as we know it is a joke.

National elections are usually won (assuming, what is unlikely, that the votes are honestly counted) with the support of less than a third of those eligible to vote, with many and sometimes a majority of the electorate failing to register a vote at all.

This means that elections can be won with the support of a minority made up of the most gullible and the most easily bribed portion of the electorate, i.e., the least educated, least intelligent and generally the poorest members of the community: worthy people, no doubt, but generally not those best qualified to judge the argument for pre-emptive war in Afghanistan or Iraq, the merits of bank bailouts, or the need to nationalize the auto industry.

Under this system, the most educated and thoughtful members of society can be marginalized or intimidated by a clownish dictator wannabe. "Your are with us, or you are with the terrorists": thus are intelligent and informed people who might be inclined to point out government lies and fraud threatened and, if necessary, consigned to one of the concentration camps that dot the U.S. landscape.

Moreover, the major contenders are beholden to the same corporate backers. Thus, Obama, the candidate who campaigned on a promise of change, not only failed to deliver on his promise to bring the troops home but failed even to change the name of the Secretary of Defense.

The Israeli government declared Sunday morning that it expects the Swedish government to officially condemn the first Aftonbladet report.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said, "We do not want the Swedish government to apologize, we want it to issue a condemnation."

On Thursday Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman slammed the Swedish Foreign Ministry for saying that Swedish Ambassador to Israel Elisabet Borsiin Bonnier's condemnation of the report does not represent the Swedish government's stance.

What's in the flu shot

The media has been promising a "flu pandemic" for months. Initially, nothing happened. Then a laboratory-produced strain of flu virus that, according to many prominent scientists, simply could not have arisen in nature, was released earlier this year in Mexico, but failed to produce the predicted pandemic. At the same time, test subjects being given flu vaccines were getting sick or dying, not from the flu, but from the vaccines. In advance of the predicted pandemic, drugmakers were applying for flu vaccine patents for the "new strain," even though it is impossible to make a vaccine before the new strain actually appears. Next, look for news stories showing panicking people begging for the shot in spite of "limited supplies" (at least 5 billion doses are actually planned), "to help protect my family!" This is supposed to implant in your mind that this shot is the way to protect your health.

Our government, on our behalf, has given the drugmakers about a billion dollars of taxpayer money to develop the new vaccines, even though these companies are among the richest and most powerful on the planet. Their expected profits should exceed $50 billion, if their hopes for the coming "flu season" pan out.

The PREP Act removes the right to a trial jury unless a plaintiff can provide clear evidence of willful misconduct that resulted in death or serious physical injury -- and gets permission to sue from the DHHS Secretary.

That really puts the vaccine makers under the gun to ensure patient safety -- NOT.

With actions such as this, which allow irresponsible corporations to maximize profits, who can question that the U.S. Government is anything but a conspiracy against the people?
